We already told you, in the brand presentation, that Ypsos Safety did not come alone; it was accompanied by four sub-brands that we were going to introduce little by little, each with its own features and function.
Well, let’s start the introductions by welcoming PIGNUS and explaining its origin and its function.
PIGNUS means safety in Latin and is the name of our SAFETY NETS, which will be used as fall arrest systems for people, such as for protecting translucent panels.
We understand a net to be a structure formed by interlacing strands that make a diamond or quadrilateral. Depending on where it is installed, it will have a different use or purpose.
Metal nets intended for fencing off land or animals will not have the same characteristics as those intended for fall protection of people.
For example, the former do not have to be tested to a specific force, whereas the latter do.
At YPSOS we are going to focus on fall arrest safety nets, calling them PIGNUS.
FEATURES
As safety manufacturers, all of our products have been tested following a series of measures, technical specifications, and standards.
The features of our metal net are broken down into several points:
- Type: Galvanized single-twist lattice net
- Anti-friction and anti-vibration spacing
- Dimensions:
- Wire 2.05 mm
- Length of 10, 15, and 20 mm
- Variable width between 1200 and 1800 mm
- Mesh size 50 mm
- Fastening:
- On sheet metal with a minimum thickness of 0.5 mm
- Structural rivets
- Strength of 15kN
It should be stressed that these types of fall arrest safety devices are not suitable for people to walk on; they have been tested to withstand momentary impact forces.
USES

As mentioned above, the metal net serves one function or another depending on where it is installed.
We are going to focus on fall arrest safety nets that are installed on roofs, rooftops, metal sheets, etc.
When a roof has translucent panels or skylights, one of the options for ensuring the safety of the people who have to carry out work on them is the metal net.
These devices are stronger than a textile net, withstand changes in weather, and have no expiration date. In addition, they do not affect the light inside the roof space and do not reduce brightness.
Metal nets are considered collective protection, and as the Occupational Health and Safety Law 31/95 of November 8 states, measures to protect the group will always take precedence over individual ones.
In the next post we will go into more depth and explain the different surfaces where safety nets can be installed and the characteristics of each.
