In previous posts we welcomed ANANKE, our sub-brand that names our safety guardrails. We have also talked about the standards that govern them, and their requirements and specifications.
In the following post we will be more specific and refer to the features, material, elements, and installation of ANANKE.
Features of the ANANKE Guardrail
The most significant feature of safety guardrails is that they are collective protection. This means they protect people working within them from the risk of falling from height. Besides this property, we will talk about physical characteristics such as the material and the elements that make it up.
ANANKE Material
Safety or edge protection guardrails can be made of different materials. ANANKE, in particular, is made of raw extruded aluminum profiles with the alloy needed for greater strength.
When installing in salt-laden environments, it can be anodized to 15 or 20 microns to prevent corrosion and for greater durability.
Elements That Make Up ANANKE
At YPSOS we have paid special attention to making sure all our plastic connecting parts have the strength and durability needed so that, even in the worst case, they still deliver a safe result.
On that basis, the elements that make up the ANANKE guardrail are the following:
- Round tubes in the handrails
- Both vertical and horizontal posts
- Aluminum anchors
- Plastic elements joining the metal parts
- Multiple end caps throughout the guardrail to prevent cuts or dirt getting in
- Counterweights, in the case of the counterweighted guardrail
All the parts or elements we have mentioned are machined for greater convenience and speed of installation.

Installation of the ANANKE Guardrail
Our safety guardrails can be installed on different surfaces, each in a different way.
What will be the same for all of them is the distance between the vertical posts. By standard, these posts must be spaced 1500 mm apart.
The different surfaces where a guardrail can be installed are: sandwich panel, flat or trapezoidal metal sheet, deck roof, concrete, and other types such as Kal-Zip roofs.
But not all guardrails can be installed on every surface, so we will look at them separately.
- Counterweighted guardrails, can be installed on any type of roof.
- Guardrails fixed with floor anchors on surfaces such as concrete or deck roofs
- Guardrails fixed with sheet anchors, such as trapezoidal or flat metal sheet.
- Wall-mounted guardrails, on a parapet.
- Guardrails with a special anchor for roofs such as Kal-Zip
To finish, we want to mention that our systems, in this case the safety guardrail, have been designed so they can be installed on any surface. We provide solutions for the most specific cases and, of course, the general ones as well.
