With this we will understand that it is not a simple matter of aesthetics or a random configuration.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ELEMENTS THAT MAKE UP <a href=\"https:\/\/ypsossafety.com\/ananke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ANANKE<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we have already mentioned, our guardrails are designed and manufactured under the criteria of the<a href=\"https:\/\/ypsossafety.com\/requisitos-para-el-ensayo-de-la-norma-une-en-14122-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> UNE- EN 14122-3<\/a> standard. This section covers everything relating to guardrails, the elements they must include, the distances between them, and how to carry out the tests to verify that the system meets the technical requirements that guarantee specific safety and strength of its elements.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Elements Make Up <a href=\"https:\/\/ypsossafety.com\/barandilla-ananke-caracteristicas-e-instalacion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Our Ananke Guardrails<\/a>?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In terms of composition, this collective protection system includes, among others, the following elements:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Handrail<\/strong>, the element used to support the body.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Intermediate rail<\/strong>, which provides complementary protection to prevent the passage of the human body.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vertical posts<\/strong>, to anchor the guardrail to the installation surface or, if it complements a ladder, to fix it to the ladder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Toe board<\/strong>, to prevent objects from falling and reduce the distance between the surface and the intermediate rail, thus eliminating the possibility of a body falling through the resulting gap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> In some configurations we will also find horizontal posts, as in the case of the counterweighted guardrail system or the one fixed to sheet metal roofs.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Distances Must the Different Elements Keep From Each Other?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minimum height of the guardrail must be 1100 mm, measured from the floor or roof surface to the top of the handrail. In some situations we can increase its height, but never go below this minimum.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, to ensure that the free space between the surface (or toe board) and the intermediate rail, or between the intermediate rail and the handrail, does not allow a human body to pass through, the maximum distance between these elements must be 500 mm.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">POST SPACING<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another very important point is the spacing between posts. The standard tells us that the distance between them should preferably be 1500 mm, but in installations where, because of the construction of the roof, the requirements of the installation itself, or elements that prevent or hinder installation with this generic spacing between posts, if these distances are increased, special attention must be paid to the anchors and fastening elements.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, if we come across a roof whose structure and shape prevent placing the posts at 1500 mm, we could go to spans of 1800 mm to make installing the guardrail easier, but in that case we will have to check that the anchors and their fastenings provide the stipulated strength, always seeking to ensure safety and to prevent an excessive load on the guardrail, whether point or continuous, from deteriorating or breaking the system and endangering users&#8217; safety.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What <a href=\"https:\/\/ypsossafety.com\/protecciones-colectivas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Standards Must We Consider for Post Spacing?<\/a><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The standard referred to earlier, in its section 8.2 Testing of guardrails, tells us the loads to which the system must be subjected to verify the different elements that make it up. In the case of Anake collective protection guardrails, since they are made of aluminum, this load is 525 N.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is another particular point regarding posts and the distance between them. So far we have talked about increasing the distance between them, but there are situations where the installation itself or CTE requirements mean we must shorten the distance between these elements, thereby increasing their strength.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All these particulars are conditioned by the number of people who may use these collective protection systems. The more users, the stronger the guardrail must be, which implies a reduction in the spacing between its posts and the strength it must be tested to, which the Technical Building Code sets at 800 N.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we can see, no design or manufacturing decision is made at random; everything is aimed at protecting users, in addition to complying with current regulations.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we always say, our systems rigorously follow these standards in terms of design, manufacturing, and testing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this post we will look at the importance of each element of our Ananke collective protection guardrail, why it is configured the way it is, how its elements are joined, and the spacing of its posts.
